Hosted / Web-Access ASC Products FAQs

All ASC products are available via the web, hosted by ASC. These FAQs cover the details of ASC’s hosted solutions.

Web Access Description

What does “web access” mean?
Web access means TPAs can access ASC products via an internet connection. You do not need a local server to run ASC products. ASC hosts the products, which includes managing server maintenance, security, and product updates. Essentially, we handle the technical infrastructure of the ASC products, allowing you to focus on plan administration.

Web Access Products

Are all ASC Web-Access products hosted the same way?
No, ASC offers two types of hosted products: Web-Based and Web-Access Application Streaming. The hosting method depends on the specific product.

Web-Based Hosting

Web-based applications run entirely within a web browser. For applications that don’t require intensive calculations, this hosting model typically doesn’t impact speed or functionality.

ASC’s web-based Document Generation and Management (DGEM) platform houses several ASC products including ASC Plan Documents, 5500s, Plan Sponsor Connect, Custom Admin Docs and Client & Task Tracking System (CATTS) CRM. These products are well-suited for a web browser-based solution due to their lower processing demands.

Web-Access Application Streaming

Application streaming is ideal for computationally intensive software, such as ASC’s Valuation and Compliance Testing products including automation modules such as Single Step Processing (SSP) and Money Manager Link (MML)

SSP allows TPAs to batch-run an unlimited number of tests or tasks simultaneously, achieving the processing power and speed that typically cannot be achieved, or reliably achieved, in web browser based applications.

Unlike web-based hosting accessed through a browser, there are less volume or usage restrictions. With ASC Val Web-Access products, TPAs can batch-run as many tests or tasks as needed without sacrificing speed or encountering batch limits.

A key benefit of ASC Val Web-Access via application streaming is that existing ASC Valuation and Compliance Testing clients experience the same familiar ASC products, just without their own server. The transition to Web-Access is seamless for existing ASC Val clients using a premises-based system.

Integration/Data Sharing Between ASC Products

Do all ASC products share data?
Yes, all ASC products are integrated. We offer a complete solution for TPAs, allowing data to be entered once and shared across all products. This data sharing capability exists whether you choose the premises-based Val System or the Val Web-Access System.

Val Web-Access System Transition

How does an existing client with an ASC DC/401k premises-based account switch to ASC’s Val Web-Access system?

The transition, whether from a premises-based version to the web-access version or vice versa, is virtually seamless. The DC/401k, DB, and Compliance Testing products are identical regardless of whether ASC or your organization hosts them. You’ll be using the same system.

The ASC Support Team will guide you through the migration process. The migration process involved two steps: the first is to transfer the client’s plan and participant data to ASC’s server. The time involved in this step directly correlates with the amount of data (plans and participants) a client has, and the speed of the client’s internet connection. In general, we estimate this will take less than 1 working day. Once the data is on ASC’s server, the actual ASC Val migration is typically less than 1 hour.

Because the Val System is the same, there is no conversion process, training or change in how you process plans.

To switch to the web-access version or vice versa, contact sales@asc-net.com. Our product experts will be happy to assist you.
